SINGAPORE GP SEASON AMBASSADORS AND COLLECTABLES RETURN FOR THIS YEAR’S FORMULA ONE RACE

Singapore, 18 September 2009 – 400 sets of limited edition Singapore GP Season 2009 souvenirs are up for grabs, from 11am to 12pm on 19 September 2009 at the Singapore Flyer, the world’s largest giant observation wheel. Adding a special touch to these limited edition sets, six exciting prizes, comprising one pair of 2009 FORMULA 1 SINGTEL SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX tickets and five pairs of F1 ROCKS™ tickets, have been hidden among these 400 sets. Produced by the Singapore Tourism Board (STB), each limited edition set includes a keychain with a Merlion decked out in race gear, a Uniquely Singapore F1 ROCKS™ fan with images of Beyoncé, The Black Eyed Peas, A-Mei and Jacky Cheung, as well as postcards and posters featuring exclusive race and Singapore GP Season visuals. This is the first time that the STB is giving away a complete collection of Singapore GP Season souvenirs. Collectors simply need to approach any one of the 14 Singapore GP Season Ambassadors stationed at the Singapore Flyer ticketing area, and correctly answer three simple questions about the 2009 FORMULA 1 SINGTEL SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX, F1 ROCKS™ and the Singapore Flyer, in order to walk away with the limited edition set. The Singapore GP Season Ambassadors can be identified by their striking red and white race-themed uniforms.

For those who miss out on the 19 September limited edition giveaway, selected Singapore GP Season souvenirs will still be available until 27 September 2009 at Orchard Road, City Hall and Changi Airport terminals 1, 2 and 3 while stocks last.

The Singapore GP Season Ambassadors will be at the above locations to distribute the souvenirs, as well as generate awareness of the Singapore GP Season 2009. The Singapore GP Season Ambassador initiative was started last year to involve local residents in the FORMULA ONE Singapore Grand Prix and the Singapore GP Season, and has proven to be popular amongst local youths. This year about 200 tertiary students have signed up as ambassadors, up from 80 last year.

“Last year, we received overwhelming response to our Singapore GP Season souvenirs, and that is why we are offering visitors and Singapore residents a limited edition set of souvenirs to commemorate this year’s events. With our Singapore GP Season Ambassadors at various tourist precincts to give away these souvenirs, we hope to interest everyone to catch the 2009 FORMULA 1 SINGTEL SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX, and take advantage of the many Singapore GP Season lifestyle offerings and events happening in less than a week,” said Mr Justin Chew, Director of F1 Projects at the Singapore Tourism Board.
